Benue medical lecturers begin indefinite strike over unpaid salary, promotion arrears

Medical lecturers under the Nigerian Association of Medical and Dental Academics (NAMDA) at the College of Health Sciences and Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) have begun an indefinite strike. The strike, which commenced on August 10, 2026, is over unpaid salary and promotion arrears, among other demands. The lecturers are also demanding the payment of 25 months' accrued arrears under the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) and remittance of outstanding pension deductions. The statement was signed by Dr Innocent Abi and Dr Paul Beega.
