Prominent figures including Hamzat, Oshiomhole, and Shekarau have advocated for a strong national identity in Nigeria. They noted that ethnic and religious identities remain deeply rooted in the country's social and political life. The challenge, they said, is not to eliminate these identities but to prevent them from becoming instruments of division.
