Workers at Abuja Continental Hotel have distanced themselves from the Trade Union Congress's (TUC) planned picketing, stating that the action does not represent their interests. They cited Section 40 of the Nigerian Constitution, which guarantees freedom of association, and Section 12 of the TUC Constitution, which makes union membership voluntary. The TUC President, Festus Osifo, had accused the hotel of preventing unionization. In response, a workers' spokesman, Samuel Esiakpoyere, said employees have open communication with management and see no need for industrial action.
