Dr. Wale Ahmed, the lawmaker representing Agege Federal Constituency, has criticized former Vice President Atiku Abubakar's proposal to restore petrol subsidy, warning that it could derail Nigeria's economic recovery. Ahmed described the proposal as economically unsustainable and politically expedient. Atiku had promised to bring back the subsidy if elected president in 2027, citing the suffering of Nigerians since President Bola Tinubu removed it. Ahmed argued that reversing the policy would return Nigeria to an expensive system that drained public resources and created opportunities for abuse.
