Presidency, Atiku bicker over subsidy removal

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has vowed to restore a targeted fuel subsidy, accusing the administration of President Bola Tinubu of disguising subsidy removal as reform while extending fiscal concessions to oil investors. The Presidency responded by accusing Atiku of politicizing the economy and contradicting his stance during the 2023 presidential campaign. Atiku's statement was issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu.
