A widow in Ohuepe, Kogi State, has recounted how her husband and two children died after eating amala made from cassava flour. The victims experienced vomiting and weakness before their deaths on August 14, 2026. The woman, known as Mama Rahama, survived because she ate only a small quantity, while her four-year-old son refused the meal. Four more children reportedly died in a similar incident in a neighbouring community, bringing the total deaths to seven.
