2027: Tinubu appoints Matawalle deputy director security, intelligence chief

The council comprises political leaders, strategists, and grassroots mobilisers tasked with coordinating the APC's engagements ahead of the 2027 general elections. According to a statement by the Ministry of Defence, Matawalle's appointment places him at the centre of the campaign's security and intelligence structure, responsible for coordinating security arrangements for campaign activities nationwide.
