The Democratic Republic of the Congo has recorded over 5,200 cases of Ebola since the outbreak was declared more than 100 days ago, making it the country's fastest-growing Ebola outbreak. Transmission is outpacing control efforts, with a daily average of around 90 confirmed cases in the first three months, higher than previous outbreaks. The outbreak has spread to a sixth province, with Ituri remaining the epicentre, accounting for about 85% of cases and 79% of deaths. Health officials emphasize the need for scaled-up action and international collaboration to bring the outbreak under control.
