Environmental engineering stakeholders have called for a shift from Nigeria's linear economy to a circular economy to address climate change and promote sustainable development. They spoke at a memorial lecture in Benin City, where Professor Jacob Ehiorobo highlighted that Nigeria generates over 32 million tonnes of solid waste annually. He noted that the waste recycling market could reach N100 billion by 2030 and create over 250,000 jobs. The circular economy model emphasizes reuse and recycling over the traditional 'take-make-dispose' approach.
