The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) held an end-of-service ceremony on 20th August 2026 at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development in Freetown to honor volunteers who completed three years of service in Sierra Leone. The event was chaired by Mr. Komba Momoh, Deputy Development Secretary II and Head of the ECOWAS National Office, who acknowledged the volunteers' contributions to their host institutions. Mr. Preaches G. Gbessagee, the ECOWAS Volunteer Programme Country Coordinator, delivered a farewell message on behalf of the Director of the ECOWAS Youth and Sports Development Centre, Francis Njoaguani, thanking the volunteers and encouraging them to stay connected to the ECOWAS family. ECOWAS Resident Representative Ambassador John Azumah praised the volunteers as ambassadors of ECOWAS and urged them to continue serving their communities and maintain the relationships they built in Sierra Leone.
