The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has linked the Warri-Itakpe train derailment to a possible wheel defect. According to NRC officials, emergency response operations were activated immediately in collaboration with the Delta State Government, Nigeria Police Force, Federal Road Safety Corps, National Emergency Management Agency, local authorities, and medical teams. The cause of the derailment is still under investigation.
