The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has called for stronger collaborations among universities, security agencies, regional institutions, and development partners to strengthen border security, migration management, and regional integration. He made the call at the opening ceremony of the African Borderlines Research Network (ABORNE) 2026 conference in Lagos. The minister, represented by his Senior Special Assistant on Policy, Dr. Kareem Olajoku, emphasized the need for evidence-based approaches to border management. The four-day conference is themed 'Connected Borderlands, Socio-Cultural Integration, and the Centrality of Policy, Research, and Security.'
