The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness' Chronic Dispensing Unit (CDU) packs about 2 million individual medicine items into 400,000 patient-specific parcels monthly. The unit distributes an average of R42 million worth of medication to facilities and collection points across the province. This system reduces queues and congestion, allowing healthcare workers more time for patient care. Premier Alan Winde praised the operation's scale and effectiveness.
