Bishop Josiah Idowu-Fearon, former Secretary-General of the Anglican Communion Worldwide and founder of the Kaduna Centre for the Study of Christian-Muslim Relations, has urged Nigerians to look beyond religious identity when choosing political leaders in the 2027 general elections. Speaking in Kaduna on Monday, he said Nigeria needs a president who genuinely practises the values of his or her faith, rather than one chosen solely on the basis of religious identity. He emphasized that the same principle should apply to governors and senators. Idowu-Fearon, a former Chairman of the Kaduna State Peace Commission, made the remarks while responding to questions on the economy, religious leadership, politics, insecurity, and the 2027 elections.
