The Edo State House of Assembly has rejected the purported resignation of former Speaker Blessing Agbebaku and instead converted it into an impeachment. The Majority Leader, Sunday Ojezele, moved the motion for impeachment, stating that the alleged resignation letter was not received by the House and that the verbal resignation process was unknown to parliamentary practices. A majority of members supported the motion, and the impeachment letter was presented to the Clerk for transmission to the Speaker. The Speaker condemned Agbebaku's actions as worrisome.
