Communal Clash: Otu threatens to revoke traditional rulers’ certificates of recognition

Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, has threatened to revoke the certificates of recognition of traditional rulers if peace collapses in their domains. Speaking at the Leboku International New Yam Festival in Ugep, he condemned the recent communal conflict between Ugep and Idomi communities as a 'show of shame.' The governor noted that the government had considered cancelling the festival but decided against it to preserve its mission of fostering peace and unity.
