Lawyers have questioned the legality of the Edo State House of Assembly's decision to convert the resignation of former Speaker Blessing Agbebaku into an impeachment, eight days after he resigned. Hon. Paschal Ugbomeh, a former Chief Whip of the Assembly, argued that Agbebaku had duly resigned and could not be impeached for a position he no longer holds. He described the action as unconstitutional and queried what the impeachment was for.
