South Africa's Portfolio Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation has called for stronger and more coordinated action to ensure women and girls can enter, progress, and lead in the country's science, technology, and innovation system. The committee, marking National Women's Month, recognized the contributions of women and girls in research and innovation while highlighting barriers that limit their full participation. Committee Chairperson Ms Lusizo Makhubela stressed that South Africa cannot build a competitive and inclusive innovation economy if girls and young women continue to face obstacles in STEM fields.
