Two elderly men arrested over alleged attempted rape of 12-yr-old

Two elderly men, aged 68 and 70, have been arrested by the Cross River State Police Command for allegedly attempting to rape a 12-year-old girl in Calabar. The suspects, Moris Monday, a shoe repairer, and Asuquo Effiom, were apprehended on August 23, 2026, after community members handed them over to police. According to the command's Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, the victim alleged that Monday lured her into his room on two separate occasions in August and attempted to sexually assault her.
