President Bola Tinubu has appointed former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar-Farouq, to lead women's mobilisation for his 2027 re-election campaign. Umar-Farouq was sacked in 2024 amid corruption allegations and is currently under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The appointment has drawn criticism from opposition parties, who question the president's commitment to fighting corruption. The presidency has not commented on the criticism.
