Obi defends fuel subsidy removal, rejects Atiku’s restoration plan

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress for the upcoming January 16 election, has expressed support for the removal of petrol subsidy. He argued that mismanagement of the savings should not be a reason to reverse the policy. Obi, a former Anambra State Governor, stated that the government failed to implement proper measures to cushion the effects on Nigerians. He suggested that the savings should be directed into productive sectors to improve the economy. Obi made these remarks on Monday at the Nigerian Bar Association conference in Port Harcourt.
