A memorial parade was held in Abuja to honor police officers who died in a gun battle with bandits along the Rafin Makuku axis in Kebbi State on August 10, 2026. Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu attended the event and vowed that the force would not be intimidated by criminals or terrorists. The officers were attached to the Special Intervention Squad at the Force Headquarters and were killed during an encounter with heavily armed bandits moving between Zamfara and Kebbi states.
