The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) and the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) have called on oil and gas operators to adopt scale-driven, risk-based approaches to site surveys instead of generic designs. This recommendation was made at the NAPE August Technical Session in Lagos, sponsored by Seis-Space Geosciences Ltd. The session chairman, Dr. Osim Ogboke, emphasized that strategy and scale must guide every survey, noting that most fields now operate like brownfields with existing infrastructure and hazards that should influence planning and vessel selection.
