Eyesan Decries Missed Oil Investment Inflows, Harps on Skilled Workforce

The Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, has expressed concern over Nigeria's loss of billions of dollars in oil and gas investment over the past decade. Speaking at the inaugural Human Capital Development Conference and Expo 2026 in Warri, Delta State, she noted that investment in the sector dropped from $26 billion in 2014 to about $2 billion annually by 2023. She attributed the decline to the loss of critical technical skills, particularly in exploration and subsurface disciplines, as companies scaled back activities.
