The Department of State Services (DSS) and the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) are investigating top officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over alleged collaboration with foreign interests to undermine national security. A security source revealed that intercepted communications between NFF officials and foreign nationals raised concerns. The investigation is separate from financial impropriety issues, which are handled by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The probe follows a N17 billion intervention fund approved by President Bola Tinubu in 2024 to clear outstanding payments to national teams.
