AFN Warns Nigerian Athletes against Signing Unfavourable Deals

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has advised Nigerian athletes to be cautious when signing agreements, stating that no deal is 'cast in stone' and that the federation will intervene in cases deemed detrimental to athletes or the country's interests. AFN President Chief Tonobok Okowa, who is also a Senior Vice President of the Confederation of African Athletics, emphasized that the federation is closely monitoring athletes' agreements and remains committed to protecting their welfare. He clarified that the AFN has not entered into any scholarship agreements with agents or agencies, and urged athletes and their families to exercise caution before committing to any arrangement. The federation also stressed that minor athletes should not enter into agreements without proper guidance.
