Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has called for stronger collaboration among universities, security agencies, regional institutions, development partners, and border communities to enhance Nigeria's border security and migration management. Speaking at the opening of the African Borderlands Research Network (ABORNE) 2026 conference in Lagos, he stressed that border communities should be treated as active partners in securing the nation's frontiers. The minister, represented by his Senior Adviser on Policy Research, Dr. Kareem Olajoku, noted that involving border communities could improve early warning mechanisms and conflict prevention. The four-day conference is co-hosted by Lagos State University and ABORNE.
