A report by The Drinks Business indicates that beer prices in Nigeria may rise further due to increased tax expenses and soaring operating costs. The report highlights that Nigerian Breweries, Guinness Nigeria, and International Breweries collectively incurred N112.87 billion in tax expenses in the first half of 2026, a 58% increase from N71.39 billion in the same period of 2025. These higher costs, including electricity, gas, diesel, and transportation, are squeezing margins and may force brewers to pass on the burden to consumers.
