Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has defended his administration's payroll verification exercise across the state's 23 local government areas, saying it aims to eliminate 'ghost' workers and restore fiscal discipline. Speaking at the commissioning of the Omademe Internal Roads Project, he said the problem predated his administration and that the former Local Government Service Commission had begun addressing it. He stressed that the exercise is being conducted with fairness and no political considerations.
