The United States has awarded a $125,000 grant to the Centre for Memories in Enugu to support the preservation and digital documentation of the Lejja Iron-Smelting Site in Enugu State, which dates back to about 2000 BC. The grant, provided under the U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation, will fund physical conservation and 3D digital documentation of the site. The project, titled 'Nchekwaba: Lejja Iron-Smelting,' aims to preserve the history and enhance accessibility of the heritage site. The U.S. Embassy stated that the project is part of broader efforts to strengthen cultural ties between Nigeria and the United States.
