On Friday, August 21, 2026, terrorists launched coordinated attacks on worshippers in several mosques in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, abducting them from Dekara, Kpenya, Sabon-Gida, and Gidan-Zana communities. Some worshippers who escaped are receiving treatment at health centres for injuries, including life-threatening ones. The terrorists also went house-to-house, abducting women and children and taking them into the bush. In a video released on Sunday, the terrorists showcased the captives, and there are suggestions that some captives may have been killed.
