The Federal Government has announced plans to complete the reconstruction of Carter Bridge in Lagos within 24 months, ahead of the original 36-month schedule. Minister of Works Sen. Dave Umahi made this known during an inspection of the bridge and the Iddo Bridge, accompanied by Minister of State for Works Sen. Mohammed Goronyo and other officials. Umahi noted that the 1.58km bridge, which has been in use for over 60 years without adequate maintenance, has developed serious structural issues. The accelerated timeline is due to the bridge's critical role in vehicular movement in Lagos.
