2027: Amaechi blames personal ambition for coalition failure

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice-presidential candidate, Rotimi Amaechi, has attributed the inability of opposition parties to agree on a single presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections to personal ambitions among political leaders. Amaechi expressed regret that opposition politicians had been unable to reach a consensus despite calls for a united front against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The former Minister of Transportation spoke on Monday during a panel session at the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) 2026 Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt. He said the coalition effort remained difficult because many politicians were unwilling to put aside their individual ambitions.
