Bill to Regulate Manufacture and Sell of Agricultural Inputs Tabled

The Ugandan government has tabled a bill to regulate the manufacture, distribution, importation, and supply of veterinary medicines, veterinary devices, agricultural chemicals, and application equipment. The Food and Agriculture Regulatory Authority Bill, 2026, was introduced by Minister for Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, Hon. Frank Tumwebaze. The proposed law aims to address the surge in counterfeit and substandard agricultural inputs. It also establishes the Food and Agriculture Regulatory Authority to ensure standard inputs and license manufacturers and distributors.
