Nigerian dramatist and poet Professor Peter Fatomilola has urged Nigerians to take responsibility for their choices and actions, stating that destiny should not be used as an excuse for failure or lack of preparation. He made the remarks at a centenary cultural colloquium of the Yoruba Tennis Club in Lagos. Speaking on the theme 'Ayanmo: Destiny and Understanding the Journey of Life', he explained that the Yoruba concept of destiny is complex and involves what individuals inherit, encounter, choose, and ultimately become. He emphasized that people have the power to influence their lives through knowledge, hard work, character, and perseverance.
