Atiku: I’ll restore subsidy to cut your costs, not to feed Tinubu and friends

Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has reiterated that his proposed petroleum intervention is not a return to Nigeria's discredited import-subsidy regime but targeted support for domestic production to reduce the cost of living. He disowned comments credited to one of his close aides over the framing of his fuel subsidy policy, stating that no spokesperson has the right to redefine his position. His Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, said the aide's remarks suggesting an Atiku government would 'restore fuel subsidy and remove it later' were an unauthorized and misleading characterization of Atiku's policy position.
