Senate President Godswill Akpabio has been accused of obstructing the creation of a proposed Proceeds of Crime (Recovery and Management) Agency. This follows the Senate's decision to rescind its earlier passage of the Proceeds of Crime (Recovery and Management) (Amendment) Bill, 2026. The bill had been previously adopted by the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, which recommended the establishment of a standalone agency to manage recovered assets.
