The Federal Government has commenced the demolition of the dilapidated Carter Bridge in Lagos, with an estimated N548.98 billion allocated for its reconstruction. The project is expected to be completed within 24 months, faster than the initially scheduled 36 months. Minister of Works, Sen. Dave Umahi, disclosed this during an inspection of the bridge, accompanied by other officials. The bridge, which is about 1.58km long and has been in use for over 60 years, is critical for vehicle movement in Lagos.
