Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Abraham Laban, commander of the Nigerian Formed Police Unit (NFPU-13) under the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), has renewed the unit's pledge to support peace and security in Somalia. The unit, comprising 159 personnel, operates from the Al-Jazeera II Forward Operating Base in Mogadishu, alongside Ugandan troops. CSP Abraham emphasized the importance of public order management, joint patrols with the Somali Police Force, and providing escorts for AUSSOM and UN personnel. The base was established to house AUSSOM personnel after their relocation from the Mogadishu International Stadium.
