The United States Energy Information Administration (EIA) reports that Nigeria's seaborne petroleum product exports have surged more than seven-fold since 2023, driven by the Dangote Petroleum Refinery. Exports averaged 561,000 barrels per day in the second quarter of 2026, up from 79,000 bpd in 2023. Shipments to Europe also increased significantly, while imports have dropped sharply.
