Private Sector Moves to Tackle Nigeria’s 20m Housing Deficit with New 50-Hectares in Abuja

Real estate stakeholders have flagged off work on a new 50-hectare residential project, Amani Estate, in Kansas, Abuja, to help address Nigeria’s housing deficit. The project, driven by Kopitar, OMEC Properties, and Gynosure Realty Ltd, comes as the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development estimates the deficit at over 20 million units. Developers say private capital and partnerships are critical to bridging the shortfall, with Kopitar Chairman Anderson Idoko citing migration and political appointments as factors driving demand in the FCT.
