One week after the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, ordered the demolition of buildings obstructing green areas and waterways, many affected locations in Abuja remain uncleared. The delay has raised concerns among residents and experts who link uncontrolled construction to recent flooding in parts of the city. Affected areas include Maitama Extension, Wuse 1 and 2, Durumi, Gaduwa, and Gudu districts. Residents fear that continued construction could worsen flooding and reduce recreational spaces.
