Banditry knows no boundary, North-West must unite against terror — Sokoto security adviser

Col. Ahmed Usman (rtd.), Special Adviser on Security Matters to the Sokoto State Governor, has backed Zamfara State's newly inaugurated Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration (DDR) Peace and Security Committee. Usman stated that worsening banditry in the North-West cannot be tackled through military action alone. He described the initiative as a strategic intervention to complement security operations and provide pathways for repentant fighters. The 13-member committee was inaugurated on August 24, 2026, in Gusau by Deputy Governor Malam Mani Malam Mummuni.
