Uganda: MPs call for take over of government operations of Kampala-Entebbe Expressway

Uganda's Committee on Physical Infrastructure has called on the government to take over operations of the Kampala-Entebbe Expressway and investigate alleged management failures. In a report presented to the House by chairperson Hon. Mwine Mpaka, the committee recommended that the Ministry of Works and Transport immediately assume operations and maintenance to reduce expenditure on private contracts and protect revenue for loan repayment. The committee observed reliance on cash transactions, audit issues, contractor cost concerns, and procurement problems, raising doubts about loan repayment.
