Traders in the Onitsha market in Anambra State have appealed to the new Commissioner of Police, alleging that a team of policemen has been breaking into their shops and carting away goods without explanation. The traders claim that four police officers from the Area Command have been conducting raids around 10 p.m., using heavy instruments to break into shops and then demanding large sums of money for the return of the goods. Their spokesman, Nnanunyelugo Elias, stated that the officers target shops after the traders have gone home.
