The World Health Organization is supporting Mauritius in conducting a comprehensive Health Labour Market Analysis to address workforce shortages and improve distribution of health workers. The initiative aims to provide evidence for designing effective and sustainable workforce policies, contributing to progress toward universal health coverage. Mauritius currently has one of the highest doctor and nurse densities in the African Region, with 31.7 doctors and 35.7 nurses and midwives per 10,000 population.
