Civil society organisations, lawyers, and opposition politicians have rejected the declaration by Senator Abdul'Aziz Yari, Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, that the ruling party will remain in power beyond 2031. They argue that political power belongs to the electorate and not any political party. The groups warned that predicting electoral victories years ahead could create a dangerous impression of political entitlement and undermine confidence in elections. The Executive Director of CISLAC, Auwal Rafsanjani, was among those who spoke against the declaration.
