The UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has projected that the global artificial intelligence (AI) market will reach $4.8 trillion by 2033, a figure comparable to Germany's economy. The report warns that AI-driven automation could affect up to 40% of jobs worldwide, potentially eroding the low-cost labor advantage that many developing economies depend on for growth and poverty reduction. UNCTAD, established in 1964, supports developing countries in benefiting from a globalized economy. The report, titled 'Ensuring AI Benefits Everyone Is Key to Development in the Global South,' highlights the need for international cooperation to prevent AI from widening development gaps.
