Francis Clifford Smith, who was the oldest and longest-serving prisoner in the United States, has died at age 101. He spent 76 years under sentence and more than seven decades in prison while maintaining his innocence. Smith survived eight scheduled executions and passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 25.
