The Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) has appealed to the Federal Government to provide protective kits and equipment for its members following the killing of several vigilantes during operations against criminals. The group also unveiled its proposed security strategy for the 2027 general elections, stating that its grassroots presence would provide early-warning information and support to conventional security agencies. The Commandant-General, Otunba James Udoma, made this known at a press briefing in Abuja. He emphasised that the election security framework is not intended to replace statutory security agencies.
